Jim founded Ackerman Asset Management, LLC (AAM), a registered investment advisor, in 2005, culminating an investment industry career that began in 1996. Central to the firm’s identity is its commitment to independent investment research and analysis. This strong commitment emanates from Jim’s experience as a senior Wall Street Equity Research Analyst and is manifested through the firm’s proprietary methodology for analyzing market dynamics. In addition to its core investment strategies, AAM also offers its proprietary Israel Global Impact Index® (IGII). IGII is a globally diversified equity strategy, developed and launched as of the beginning of 2016, which is synchronized with Israel's economic, diplomatic, and national security interests.Prior to founding AAM, Jim’s work focused on Institutional Equity Research and Private Client Portfolio Management while at: 1) Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc., 2) Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co, and 3) Citigroup Smith Barney. He ranked #2 out of 26 Research Analysts at Legg Mason and received multiple promotions to the most senior levels of Equity Research. Jim’s work history also includes eight years in hospital administration at NYU Medical Center and healthcare management consulting at Deloitte. Jim received an MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business, an MHA in Health Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, and a BS in Chemistry from Dickinson College. He currently is a member of the Jewish Community Foundation Investment Committee (Rockville, MD) and previously served as the Chair of the investment committees of the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes (JFGH) and B'nai Israel Congregation (Rockville, MD).
