As property director I was responsible for leading a team who deliver over £12m GBP of projects annually throughout the venue portfolio. The vast portfolio of c2m sq ft includes many of the world’s most historic theatres and music venues, from London’s West End to Broadway, regional venues across the UK, the USA and in five major German citiesMy role included running the property team which comprises a capital projects team undertaking projects to maintain and improve the existing portfolio, as well as feasibility projects to undertake major redevelopments and overhauls of theatres to increase the stage house and front of house capabilitiesIn addition to the capital projects, the property team also included the technical operations team for the entire group. This includes recruitment and training of venue technical staff, improving the quality of our information of our technical capabilities to professionalise the producer/promoter handover process in a way that is more in tune with a 21st century real estate service provider.

I worked from the European Corporate office in a team responsible for Real Estate Development throughout Europe. In addition to my corporate role, I also sat on the senior leadership team at The O2 responsible for real estate development activities for the vast 1m sq ft entertainment complexWidely acknowledged for revitalizing the Greenwich peninsula, The O2 is one of the world’s most popular music and entertainment venues and has been visited by more than 50 million people since opening in 2007. When I joined AEG in 2015, in addition to the 20,000-seat O2 arena, The O2 was also home to the first phase of the Entertainment District with indigo at The O2, a 2,800-capacity live performance space; an 11 screen cinema complex; the Up At the O2 roof attraction and 26 bars and restaurantsI undertook a number of large scale projects to develop the second phase of the Entertainment District, and was involved in the delivery of over 330,000 sq. ft. of new builds and over 100,000 sq. ft. of refurbishments. These projects included the expanded Cineworld Cinema, increasing the number of screens 19, making The O2 the largest cinema complex in London, the immersive theatrical dining concept, Mamma Mia! The Party, and securing planning consent for a 36 storey residential tower on a parcel of land adjacent to The O2In addition to my work with The O2, I worked on acquisition projects of music venues with AEG Presents UK, the promoter and music club operating arm of the business, helping to secure a new 4,000 capacity music venue in Olympia.

Despite only having a resident population of c9,400, the City has its own police force, owns all the bridges along the River Thames and has responsibilities far beyond its bordersWorking in the development team within the Corporate Property group, I led on redevelopment initiatives of the corporate estate to optimize the estate efficiencies. This included working on public housing schemes, office developments, wholesale market consolidation and cultural, museum and concert hall projects
