Profile bio

About James Albis

From 2011-2019 I had the extreme pleasure of representing my hometown of East Haven, Connecticut in the Connecticut State House. As chairman of the Shoreline Preservation Task Force beginning in 2012, and chairman of the legislature's Environment Committee from 2015-2017, I focused my efforts on climate change adaptation and resilience. I have worked in a bipartisan, collaborative manner to draft, sponsor, and ensure passage of laws that require state and municipal agencies to consider sea level rise in planning and enabling legislation for the Connecticut Institute for Resilience and Climate Adaptation (CIRCA), a collaboration between the University of Connecticut and the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection. CIRCA assists Connecticut municipalities with adaptation strategies, providing technical expertise and funding.Since June 2017, I have been the Executive Director of the Connecticut Green Building Council (CTGBC), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable building practices in the state of Connecticut. Since June 2017, CTGBC has increased its membership by nearly 20% and has increased its presence throughout the state through social media, networking, and a series of events to become the number one resource for the green building sector in the state.Over the past several years I have had the great opportunity to participate in numerous panel discussions at workshops and conferences and have acted as a recurring guest lecturer at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Listed skills include Public Policy, Political Campaigns, Public Speaking, Community Outreach, and 46 others.
