How I think about product development:1) everything starts with a user, and everything we build has to work for the user.2) clearly articulate exactly how we can achieve this, then let the engineers and designers work.3) study the data to find your points of failure and iterate; everyone will make mistakes, but the winners will have recovered most quickly.4) the customers of the development process are designers and engineers: every element of process should solve a specific problem for them--or it should not exist.5) build a culture of personal responsibility, because if employees are not self-motivated you've lost already.6) Have the courage to be honest and transparent with your employees--about both the good and the bad. You owe this to them when you ask for their dedication.
