James was responsible for Field Engineer works for MEC-1, A300 inlet facilities. Working with Precommissioning activities for overhead style compressors and facility pipe systems. Reporting to the Construction Manager, other activities include scope completion, variation control and closeouts.

James was responsible for the delivery of solutions to maintenance based issues and small projects for Santos assets located in South-West Queensland and Victoria. He was required to provide engineering solutions urgently to priority tasks to ensure minimal downtime and minor disruption to operations.

Tarbat

James' responsibilities for on site engineering solutions to operational problems were undertaken in the small remote area called Tarbat, located in SWQ. This included small projects from concept to operation, general restocking, maintenance tasks and planning for scheduled and unscheduled downtime. On occasion James filled in as Operations Team Leader, allowing him to manage a team of operator maintainers as well as completing his operational engineering responsibilities simultaneously.

Moomba

James has contributed to multiple Brownfield orientated projects for Santos including plant, well head and satellites. Coordinated with Client's on design options as well as compiling estimates, clarifying scopes of work and providing technical queries with technical solutions, he is skilled in checking, compilation and execution of engineering work packs as well as having a keen eye for document control processes and procedures. James has completed various estimates and captured variations, organised project specific tasks according to schedules along with providing updates for those schedules and procuring items required for projects. James worked directly with multiple Mechanical and Electrical tradesmen as well as their supervisors in order to achieve goals specific to the Client's needs and requests.

James has previously coordinated with Clients Santos and BHP Billiton in multi-discipline environments for project deliverable's specifically for design proposals and construction modifications as well as Greenfield Projects. James' technical capabilities have allowed him to complete multiple Caesar II pipe stress calculations, undertake an ASME VIII Div 1 and Div 2 vessel investigation providing technical recommendations as well as compiling mechanical estimates, capturing variations and solving technical queries. He has also been required to initiate and check requisitions for procurement of equipment liaising with vendors and suppliers. James has also created, edited and managed documents such as scopes of work, technical evaluations, technical specifications, datasheets, purchase orders and project material requests.

James provided consultant engineering support for procurement and construction departments, identifying and capturing variations, liaising with fabrication/welding inspector during piping and structural steel fabrication along with compiling technical queries to aid construction and clarifying project requirements. He has completed mechanical engineering duties to aid with design of AS1647 structural platforms and API-579 Section 3 Fitness for Service Code Checks for Heat Exchangers, Vessels and pipe work in low temperature service. Provided Caesar II pipe stress calculations for complex pipe arrangements attached to heat exchangers and pumps as well as site inspections of existing pipe work in order to reduce vibration issues with interconnecting rotating equipment.

After completion of the Undergraduate Engineering Program for Aker Kvaerner Australia (now Aker Solutions), James began his engineering career with O&G Solutions (a joint venture company between Aker Kvaerner Australia and United Group) liaising with Santos for key project deliverables relating to mechanical / piping design and engineering. He has completed calculations and designs according to the latest Client and Australian Standards. Coordinated with multiple discipline personnel in order to complete goals and activities. Initiated, checked and completed multiple work packs (Mechanical, Piping, Structural, Civil & Excavation). Assisted with contract & material purchase requisitions and aided with the inspection of pipework and structures during fabrication as well as site inspections during construction.
