Building an affordable family-oriented outdoor adventure experience in our short-term vacation rentals. We have operated more than a half dozen properties and always seeking to expand the portfolio.

We help universities, schools, centers, programs, and other community partners to create a pre-seed investment ecosystem around their respective entities. This happens by training new accredited and unaccredited investors on the fundamentals of early-stage investing, applying that knowledge by going through the diligence process, and finally empowering them to create their own personal investment thesis. We have a triple bottom line approach where it is good for investors, founders, and the operators running entrepreneurship programs. Our philosophy is to give back financially to the academic partners priming the pump of our startup ecosystem and hopefully offer a slush-fund for additional programing, headcount, grants, or anything they deem appropriate.

In 2014, the Blackstone Charitable Foundation (the “Foundation”) formed a three-year regionalconsortium to support the next generation of entrepreneurs in Southern California by awarding $3.5 million in funding to the region’s premier institutions. The grants – to the University of California, Irvine,University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Southern California, and the Los AngelesCounty Economic Development Corporation – expanded Blackstone LaunchPad (“BLP”), a programthat provides aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools and supportive mentors they need to transformuntested ideas into vital companies. The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporationserves as the regional partner managing the program on behalf of the Foundation.Based on The LaunchPad program developed by the University of Miami, BLP initially pairs studentswith consultants who help them develop their business ideas. As their ideas mature, students arethen connected with Venture Coaches – entrepreneurs, lawyers, service providers, executives,investors, and others with professional expertise in the Southern California community andnationally – to help them bring their ideas to market. Through BLP, these universities will expandtheir entrepreneurship and support programming while also serving as a gateway to an extensivenetwork of mentors, experts, and services.The Blackstone LaunchPad @USC offers entrepreneurs with:• Free, smart, just-in-time advice from trained consultants, venture coaches, and industry savvybusiness and community leaders;• Resources that are available to all qualified individuals irrespective of the experience of theentrepreneur or the stage of the idea;• Goals and objectives based on various factors, including product or service attributes, teamstrengths and weaknesses, financial resources, and business model strategy.

Helped establish the newest university entrepreneurship program in Southern California. Met with key stakeholders, identified revenue models, and launched the center. This center is internally and externally focused and helped grow our community on La Verne's seven satellite campuses, two military bases, and the greater SoCal community.
