Section Commander:This involves leading and managing a 4-12 person team by providing leadership, formal orders, mentoring and training to achieve specific goals.Spent 3 months collectively in Christchurch after the earthquake assisting with the maintenance and security of the CBD working on the Cordon 2011.5/7 Battalion Shooting team member since 2012. Winners of the Army Shooting Competition in 2012, 15,16,17, 18 and 19. Team captain for 2015/16 involved designing and implementing the formal team assessment, selection and development process.I was the team manager for 2018. Also conducted research and ongoing development for the team which won the Army Innovation - Organisational category in 2018 awarded by the Deputy Chief of Army. I was also a team member of the New Zealand Army Combat Shooting Team member 2013 and 2014. Junior leadership development:As part of my role I organise and deliver tailored training for newly promoted and existing junior leaders. Specifically focusing on understanding and developing soft skills for successful leadership. Understanding the different styles and approaches of leadership, and the difference between reputation and self identity.

Working in the People Analytics and Insights team focusing on building analytics capability in People, Processes, Data, and Technology areas. This includes developing frameworks, processes, pipelines, and analytical tools to support the organisation in using its people data effectively and efficiently. Some of the specifics I developed included; data management processes, data quality assessment and management processes in R, process documentation in confluence, and repeatable analytics processes in R. I was one of two representative members on the PowerBI Governance group for the People and Capability function. I designed and built a repeatable text analytics pipeline in R for the organisation, which allows for text cleaning, text frequency, word correlation, sentiment analysis, and topic modelling to be conducted to provide insight to un-structured business data. This has most recently been used to theme open text responses as part of the CDHB org-wide engagement survey sent out to 12k+ people. I also supported the CDHB Emergency Coordination Centre activation in August/September, and Oct/November in the Intelligence Lead role for the Covid-19 lockdown, and Christchurch community cases activation.

As a senior consultant i worked with different clients across the government and private sector to improve their business performance. Work i have been involved in focuses on using data and analytics to improve decision making and outcomes. This is done by understanding business context, strategy, and identifying key risks and opportunities. Data is then collected, cleaned and analysed using various software (SQL, Alteryx, Excel, PowerBI, R). These insights are then communicated to decision makers through reports, insights, and data visualisations. Worked on delivering Enterprise Analytics to NZDF as part of the Data and Analytics team. This included designing and building the people, process, data and technology components of the capability, with a focus on people and data. I was directly involved in developing and testing master data services, building a data ingestion process, and building a database to clean, store, and export data from. The data was then built into PowerBI dashboards to give multiple stakeholders customizable views into combined data sources to answer their business questions and help with their regular reporting. I assisted in designing the data governance structure for the team to ensure a data landscape, processes, flows and roles and responsibilities were clear to assist in through life data management.

Data analyst for the Directorate of Health and Safety. This involved aggregating disparate data sources across multiple organisational areas, from multiple different databases. Cleaning, transforming and sorting and organising data, was another big part of the role. The work also involved utilising the data and appropriate analytical tools and techniques to create different analytical products taylored to the customer, which ranged from senior management to individual business units. The products were then used to inform decision making, and guide and inform policy making decisions.

Conducted a comprehensive audit of the Army Leave Centers customer database.This involved using three different platforms/programs to find and access relevant data to ensure customers were assigned to the correct eligibility criteria as according to Army Leave Center Eligibility Policy.General administrative duties for the Army Leave Centers.On a weekly basis i would process leave center bookings, cancellations, amendments, payments, refunds, invoicing, and liaise with custodians in different towns over New Zealand.The most common tools of communication with customers were over the phone, and by email.
