Worked on a vast array of machinery within the power generation industry, both in and outside of the UK.Maintained and fully serviced a multitude of G.E gas turbines, including but not limited to Frames 9FA, 9E, 6B and 6FA.Overhauled G.E steam turbines D11 and D12 as well as many auxiliaries related to and vital to the operation of these units.Extensive experience in generator maintenance, including field removal, seal lapping, inspection and coupling alignment.Performed maintenance on steam turbine main stop valves and control valves as well as inspections.Performed maintenance on atomizing air compressors and carried out coupling alignment.Fully disassembled/re-assembled reducing gear box with assistance of Bilfinger T.A, including removal of the bull gear, high speed pinion and triple s clutch.Performed maintenance on auxiliary systems including lube oil pumps and motors, three way valves, butterfly valves, steam governor units and actuators.Carried out diaphragm alignment of D12 steam unit HP/IP section using piano wire and sound mic, as well as replacing N2 Packing box.Completed shell arm load checks and packing change outs on several different steam units, as well as packing clearance checks involving multiple critical rotor lifts.For a full field service record please contact me

During this period I gained experience serving my time as a Modern Mechanical apprentice, where I excelled in my class at both the practical and theory aspects of mechanical fitting. Being the only pupil in class to achieve a distinction in all subjects undertaken and qualifying before any of my peersMy apprenticeship consisted of one year training within a workshop at Met-Tech in Grangemouth where I practiced hand tools proficiency and basic machining skills. During this first year I also attended Fourth Valley College in Falkirk on a bi-weekly basis to study the main principles behind mechanical engineering and many other aspects related to mechanical engineering, including but not limited to, multiple forms of welding, brazing, burning, technical drawing, health and safety, machining skills, lifting/rigging and grinding etc. I studied all of these subjects in both theory and practical.After my first year of training in Met-tech/College I was sent to work on site with Granite, a global company fully owned by G.E that has an extensive amount of experience servicing large plant and equipment. During this time I accumulated experience and knowledge from well seasoned journeymen, both in and outside of the UK, many of which had over 30 years of experience within the industry. I learned the value of communicating effectively with fellow work colleagues and gained the social skills needed to be able to integrate effectively into ever changing work crews from all regions of the UK and Europe.
