James has extensive experience handling commercial, transport and logistics matters, including subrogation and defense in maritime, aviation, trucking, and personal injury matters. He regularly handles insurance coverage opinions and litigation, casualty, commercial and other matters involving complex issues such as misrepresentation, employee dishonesty and comprehensive accounting reconstructions of inventories. He has successfully tried jury and non-jury cases involving cargo loss and damage, including shipboard fires, one of which was featured in a book entitled Fire Aboard, and another that was extensively covered by international news media. He is licensed to practice law in the states of New York, New Jersey and Florida, has handled arbitrations and tried cases in state, federal and appellate courts in those states as well as other states. He is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, and the First Second and Third Circuit Courts of Appeal. Articles he has published have appeared in the Asia Edition of Insurance Review. He has taught at the Maritime College at Fort Schulyer and speaks regularly at industry functions. He has also been designated a "Super Lawyer" by Law and Politics.James earned his J.D. from New York Law School, where he received the American Jurisprudence award in the field of Property Law, and his Bachelor of Science from the Polytechnic Institute of New York.
