In 1991, fresh out of college, I was hired by Princess Cruises (The Love Boat) in Century City, CA and fell in love with the cruise industry. I worked in reservations, inside sales, and became District Sales Manager in Southern California. In 1994, after the Northridge earthquake, my bride and I moved from Los Angeles to South Florida. My dad had just launched a new cruise agency in Boca Raton named 1-800-CRUISES and he needed help. We grew quickly. He sold it in 1998 to a roll-up of the world’s largest cruise retailers including CruisesOnly. I worked there until 2004 when they were sold for a third time. I then started a business filming 360° virtual tours of 150+ cruise ships. In 2010 I joined WMPH Vacations. (iCruise.com & AlaskaCruises.com) Fantastic owners, co-workers & websites. They were acquired by ICE in December 2019 and rebranded as “arrivia”.In August 2020, with the entire cruise industry shut down due to Covid, I bought “ShoreExcursions.com”. I had been trying to buy this unused domain for over 15 years because I already owned the singular version, “ShoreExcursion.com”. I quit Arrivia in January 2022 to develop my new sites selling shore excursions. I also started a cruise agency named Cruise Advice. We’re now one of the top independent shore excursion sites in the USA and growing. In May 2024 I launched CruiseInsurance.com. My goal is to become the largest online seller of travel insurance for cruises.I’ve been investing in domains since 1998 for future development or resale. Four months later, they closed our Delray Beach FL office, laying off most of the 125 HQ employees. Poor upper management at NLG in Boston then drove the company to the brink of bankruptcy. In 2006, the company was purchased by World Travel Holdings (WTH) who successfully turned the company around. -

Co-Founder & Cruise Specialist1-800-Cruises, Inc. Dec 1994 - Aug 19981-800-CRUISES was the brainchild of my dad James (Scotty) Cassidy. After working for BOAC & British Airways for 32 years, Scotty, along with my mom Marianne, started corporate & leisure travel agencies in Boca Raton FL named The Travel Dept.. They also had an in-house cruise division named Cruise Quarters of Boca Raton. Scotty then searched for, found, and purchased the unused toll-free phone number 1-800-CRUISES. He attempted to lease use of the phone number to various travel agencies around the USA based on territories, but this was short lived. I relocated from California to Florida and we formed a new company to compete with larger cruise agencies by selling cruises nationwide over the phone. Our memorable phone number helped us to grow quickly before being purchased four years later in 1998 by TSI, Travel Services International. Unfortunately, Scotty Cassidy passed away in June, 2024.
