Oversee the design of 30+ projects annually. Work with product design in early stages to suggest solutions to molding issues that will lower build and tooling costs, reduce the need for secondary operations, and produce higher quality parts cost-effectively. Create custom templates, library parts, and features within SolidWorks to streamline design workflow and accelerate delivery.- Design molds with up to 96 cavities, accommodate press sizes up to 1600 tons, with part sizes ranging from small electrical connectors to stadium seating- Produce full assembly drawings utilizing section, detail and exploded views, fully detailed component drawings to guide manufacturing, and associative BOMs and spreadsheets- Track, document and communicate design and drawing revisions as they occur- Communicate via sketches, PDFs and oral/written correspondence to convey suggested changes for improvement to product engineers- Produce quotes for cost and delivery of design work including stage breakdowns as needed, and estimate costs related to engineering changes for design work

Collaborated with customers and colleagues, solving piece part and tooling design issues related to part moldability, tool operation, and tool quality. Planned manufacturing process required to build each tool and communicated needs to the shop. Led preliminary design review meetings.- Supervised team of four engineers/programmers; managed network of four Unix workstations - Created templates and processes within Unigraphics to aid in design, programming, and automation of forms and documents, reducing manual input to increase productivity- Designed fully associative 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings describing molds to be manufactured- Created CNC programs for production of mold components and electrodes

Assisted moldmakers with mold base construction, cavity and core roughing, electrode creation, insert manufacture and fitting, and mold assembly and testing. Operated Bridgeport and boring mills, CNC machining centers, and surface, cylindrical and centerless grinders.
