Mr. James Chitty received his Masters of Social Work from New York University's highly respected clinical program in 1992. From 1994-1998 he trained at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, one of the most renowned psychoanalytic institutes in the world and successfully received his Certificate in Psychoanalysis in 1998. This advanced training provides the clinical fluency necessary to successfully treat a wide range of problems people confront in their lives. Mr Chitty's work career began in 1986 working for the United States Peace Corps in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Mr Chitty opened his private practice in 1998 for adults and adolescents in Westfield, N.J. In 2010 Mr. Chitty developed Ascent Counseling Services, LLC. Ascent's substance abuse recovery services are a progressive alternative to the traditional institutional rehabilitative services that are generally offered by most treatment centers. Mr. Chitty has recently started up a New PHP rehab for substance abusers in 2016 as the Clinical Director and part owner. In two years the facility has grown wonderful relation to the hard work that has been put in by his staff. Mr. Chitty is married with two children and resides in New Jersey. He has been active in the Matt Talbot men's retreat movement since 1989 and helped developed this group by serving as group secretary. He is a long-time practitioner of Tae Kwon Do and he possesses a second degree black belt obtained from Master Vincent Chun's Tae Kwon Do Academy.
