I have a long history of serving both public and private companies, with a particular focus on companies in the software, technology and life sciences industries. Throughout my career, I have developed deep technical expertise in all aspects of revenue recognition, business combinations, impairment of goodwill and other intangible assets, accounting for stock-based compensation, accounting for equity and debt instruments and other accounting issues. Additionally, I have significant experience with a variety of other regulatory and corporate governance issues pertaining to publicly traded companies including all aspects of internal control. Prior to joining Mayer Hoffman McCann (MHM) in 2005, I was with the Big Four for ten years.In addition to being an MHM Shareholder, I am a member of the Firm’s Professional Standards Group, which is a group of technical experts covering some of the most complex areas of accounting today. We provide consultation to the Firm’s offices across the country as needed on specific engagements. I am also a member of the Derivatives Assistance Group, assisting clients in the areas of derivatives and hedge accounting, including the set-up and implementation, understanding the accounting behind it and ongoing hedge effectiveness testing. A passion that I have is sharing all of this technical knowledge with others, which comes about in several ways. First, I am a regular author and speaker on these topics, including our Firm’s own thought leadership publications and media inquiries. I also speak on accounting and auditing matters at various events in and around the San Diego area. Most importantly, however, is that I am involved with our internal training programs and am a regular instructor. I take great pride in teaching the next generation of our firm about the ever-growing complexities that we see in the accounting profession and how we leverage that into providing top quality service and value to our clients.
