After 40 years in operations, materials management and supply chain, James is hanging up his clip board and retiring from the world of Materials Management, ERP/MRP and Supply Chain. Since 2018 he has been an independent consultant on Vancouver Island, where he continued to promote and teach APICS courses on behalf of the Vancouver Chapter APICS / ASCM. Prior to his independent consulting, he completed 5 years with CHC/Heli-One in the Greater Vancouver Area as Manager, Materials Planning. Retirement is good.

Richmond / Delta B.C.

Part of the Supply Chain group, led a small international team to coordinate and optimize the supply of material. Down sizing eliminated the team in 2017. Pulled together the purchasing group and shop planning group for improved synergies, a Lean Leader for the company and the Materials Planning team. Led a campaign over 5 years to reduce inventory by $30 million across multiple international locations . Worked across several departments, developing processes and communications.

Burnaby Campus

For many years, involved in teaching night school courses at BCIT. From September 2011 to May 2013, taught full time day students at the Burnaby campus. Champion for creating a night school certificate program in Supply Chain Management. Actively involved in teaching Supply Chain Logistics at night. Retired from teaching after July 2015.

As a contractor at Honeywell N.Vancouver: Planned and executed orders to build subassemblies to sales orders and final assemblies. Created weekly plans and monitored performance. Maintained communications with engineering, production and materials for new product introduction. Provided analysis on Min Max execution and developed plans for possible future Kan Ban.

Independent contractor assigned to develop a plan,budget and execute the merging of 2 facilities, including office, manufacturing and inventory. Planned to loose 1 day of production in move. Designed new office and manufacturing layout. Managed new infrastructure requirements, executed plan to on time and on budget performance.

Member ERP/MRP implementation team with successful go live January 7, 2008. Responsible for Master Schedule, Warehouse – Shipping / Receiving, Inventory, Purchasing, Logistics.

Operations, materials, supply chain, MRP specialist. Provided analysis and solutions to operational and inventory problems. Re-implemented MRP programs, documented procedures, provided training, reducing backorders and inventory. Reduced inventory by $400,000 in 6 months maintaining customer service levels, found and corrected 1.2 million unfavourable materials variance in 6 weeks.

Provided solutions and presentations for manufacturing, order entry, purchasing and CRM to clients in Western Canada.

Planned and executed plans to maintain a $150,000,000 product line revenue stream per year. Responsible for all orders from order entry to shipping maintaining on time delivery targets. Led S&OP monthly meetings, liaison with engineering, product and project management and shipping.

Oracle ERP implementation team

Planned and corrdinated distrution of Maximizer Contact Management Software. Directed local distribution centre and central distributor in Dallas Texas. Developed Bills of Materials, purchased materials and services for packaging and distribution.

Formaly Whitewater Specialites, Kelowna B.C. Planned and managed materials, production and logistics * Within 3 months, all delivery schedules were being met * Saved on average $20-50K per project in late penalties, [approximately 20%] * Planned and executed a detailed 6 month materials, production and shipping plan for a project in Japan to on time, on budget schedule.
