I want to be a part of it, New York, New York." -Frank SinatraLuckily, I grew up in Queens, only a 30 minute drive (or an hour and twenty minute trip by public transportation) away from Manhattan.Waking up at 5:00a.m. to get to school was not fun for a 13-year old. But, I knew that in order to be successful, I had to do what was necessary. I had to plan out my trip to school keeping every single factor in mind. I had to consider which routes would get me to school the fastest, how often each bus runs, how traffic would affect the busses, how the weather would affect my trip, etc. While this morning routine was not enjoyable, it taught me one of the most valuable lessons; responsibility. The ability to turn disadvantages into opportunities is the most important skill. I don’t find being a Freshman a disadvantage. In fact, I find it to be a great opportunity to start my career path at such an early stage in my life. Since starting my Freshman year here at the University at Buffalo, I have had the honor of joining the advisory board for the UB Marketing Club. Understanding customer behavior and what makes a product stand out from others is what makes me so interested in marketing. Having a background in graphic designing and logo designing also fuels my interest in marketing. Being an active member of the UB Marketing Club has opened the door to many opportunities for me. I have made connections with plenty of professionals in the marketing field, and I have even personally talked to C.E.O.s of local companies. I have also worked on marketing strategy and research projects since my start here. I look forward to exploring the field of marketing as I further my education here at UB.
