James Dondero is the founder and principal of NexPoint, a Dallas-based alternative investment platform. For decades, Mr. Dondero has invested across the alternative landscape and established a number of integrated businesses to manage investments in specific areas, including real estate, private equity, and high-yield and structured credit.Mr. Dondero holds various leadership roles across the NexPoint businesses; he serves as a portfolio manager for several funds on the platform and is an officer and director at NexPoint’s publicly traded REITs. Additionally, Mr. Dondero holds director positions at several companies within financial services, real estate, and other industries. He is the chairman and majority owner of NexBank Capital, Inc. and a director of SeaOne Holdings, LLC.Mr. Dondero is equally committed to his philanthropic work in the Dallas community as he is to his business endeavors. He continues to support organizations that provide educational opportunities, veteran support, and assist with community and economic development, including the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business, of which he is also a member of the board, the George W. Bush Presidential Center, of which he is an Advisory Council member, the Perot Museum of Natural Science, the Dallas Zoo, and the Family Place, among others.A graduate of the University of Virginia, Mr. Dondero dual majored in accounting and finance and graduated with the highest honors of Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi from the McIntire School of Commerce. He also earned the designations of Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA), and Chartered Financial Analyst.
