In Dr. David Anderson's lab I am working to track the firing timing of neurons inside a Jellyfish with respect to each other and food stimulus. These jellyfish are genetically engineered so that their neurons glow when they fire. My job is to accurately track the neurons while the jellyfish moves and detect when each neuron fires.

In Dr. Pietro Perona's lab I created a camera trap for animal detection using a Raspberry Pi and various sensors in C++. The goal of this project is to learn how the sensors react to the presence of animals in order to allow the system to operate in low power mode most of the time.

As a manger of the student coffee house at Caltech, I was in charge of creating our menu, deciding end-of-term special food items, responding to student requests and concerns, staffing the facility, pricing menu items, and informing the Caltech student body of the coffee house schedule.

I served the function of Project Engineer for the Caltech Robotics Team. This entailed hands-on leadership in the weeks preceding and during our competition. In addition to working closely with the engineering sub-team leads in order to coordinate tasks between mechanical, electrical, and software systems, I also focused on troubleshooting and innovation.

At Mimosa I designed a system in C/C++/php/bash to control the functionality of the L26-T GPS chip on the company's A5X radios to regulate the internal clock as accurately as possible to prevent two radios from interfering with each other even when a 3D fix lock is not present. In situations with prolonged loss of all satellite signals the internal 40 MHz clock will switch modes to be disciplined by measuring CFO.

At Mimosa Networks I was instrumental in creating and updating mechanical drawings of various product components in order to allow for the production of prototypes and final products. I designed a mounting bracket which allows for 360 degree mounting of eight antennae and radio pair and which is capable of being attached to a wide range of pole diameters.

In this internship I researched methods of thinning large silicon/titanium wafers to create ultra-thin spacecraft with extremely low mass. I also designed and built a prototype CubeSat to launch 120 PCB-craft as well as a prototype CubeSat designed to launch 100 of the thin wafer-spacecraft.

In this research position I used computer modeling programs and Density Functional Theory (DFT) to find thermodynamic minima and maxima in an effort to determine the correct transition states and subsequent reaction pathways in the autocatalysis of gold nano-particles from dimethylgoldacetylacetonate.
