im Spencer, President of The Campaign Network, has more than 30 years of success as a political consultant and persuasion mail expert. Jim has advised hundreds of Democratic campaigns at every level – from city council to presidential – in every region of the country.Originally from the Midwest, Jim worked in politics in Los Angeles before moving to Boston in 1980. For ten years, he held the post of Political Director and District Manager for Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy II (D-MA). He also worked at the executive level for the Massachusetts Democratic State Party, as well providing strategic counsel to some of New England's largest labor unions. Prior to founding The Campaign Network, Jim served as Vice President of Winning Directions, a San Francisco-based Democratic direct mail firm.Jim has played a leadership role in every presidential campaign since 1980. In 2006, Jim served as both the general consultant and mail consultant in Congressman Steve Kagen's upset victory in Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District, one of the top open seat races in the country that year. Jim has produced mail for some of the top Democratic media consultants in the United States. A highly regarded motivational speaker, Jim has led campaign training workshops throughout the country, including presentations at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, George Washington University, and the Ray Bliss Institute at the University of Akron. In 2000, Jim was recognized by Campaigns & Elections, the premier magazine for political professionals, as a rising star in national politics.
