I was hired back as Print Shop Manager a year later but moved to TQL.

A global supplier of prepress and premedia to leading companies in the consumer packaged goods, retail and printing vertical markets.Created press ready mechanical files per requirements while maintaining direct communication with account managers to ensure files met with client expectations. This included reformatting, editing, and completely rebuilding artwork to fit new sizes and die lines as well as retouching.Accomplishments: After being assigned sole responsibility for the new Visionworks account. I created the workflow that enabled me to create all of Visionworksí print ads from hand drawn FPOs & supplied creative for 113 markets and 570 optical retail stores nationwide averaging 650 ads per month in numerous formats and created and uploaded final files. As a result, Visionworks became our second most profitable account behind Frito-Lay.

A service bureau specializing in pre-media and dynamic creative visual marketing.My responsibilities included pre-flighting supplied files, editing, rebuilding, retouching, compositing and modifying artwork to ensure accurate reproduction for numerous advertising agencies, as well as translating concept designs into mechanical artwork and verifying that all artwork met brand specific guidelines and various printing requirements for magazines, newspapers, counter cards, posters, direct mail, POS displays, billboards, packaging, catalogs and banners in a fast-paced environment. I also imposed and output final files to plates for our presses for the Army Air Force Exchange Services catalog work.Accomplishments: I recreated the latest phone screens for Nokia using my Photoshop illustration skills which I then composited into phones to be used on their international database. I also built ads for Nokia from FPOs using the composited phones and reformatted numerous pieces of artwork for each ad campaign to be used in everything from ads to large banners that were displayed at Nokia theaters and flagship stores nationwide while maintaining brand specific guidelines and ensuring that the final files met with various printers.

An on demand print shop. As the primary Pre-Press operator, I was responsible for all phases of production to include collaborating with clients to create logos, business cards, letterhead, brochures and direct mail pieces. My duties also included pre-flighting and converting customer files from PC to Mac, scanning, retouching, typesetting, trapping, imposing, proofing, calibration and maintenance of equipment and outputting plates for the presses as well as archiving for all store locations.

As the lead Pre-Press Production Artist, I was responsible for keeping five presses busy. My responsibilities included pre-flighting customer files on Mac and PC for separation issues and troubleshooting for postscript problems, editing, modifying, trapping, color correcting, retouching, scanning, imposing and outputting plates within very tight deadlines. My other responsibilities included adjusting layouts for precise folds, creating die cut, foil stamp and emboss mechanicals and adjusting imposed files to compensate for creep on booklets and manuals. Also responsible for calibrating image setters and proofing equipment, creating color profiles for the Kodak Approval System to compensate for press gain as well as creating color profiles for each press. I also managed the Pre-Press, Stripping and Proofing departments and scheduled press runs during production manager’s absence.

A full service creative and pre-press fulfillment company. I was solely responsible for the pre-press production side of the business. I managed and performed all aspects of digital pre-press production to include pre-flighting and modifying customer files, scanning, proofing, equipment maintenance, final film output and customer service. Also monitored the company FTP and downloaded customer files for output.

A full-service digital pre-press trade-shop. Responsible for turn-key production in every phase on both Mac and PC platforms. Conceptualized with clients with their design, layout and custom illustration needs. Pre-flighted, manually trapped and output customer files to film. I was also the digital camera operator, responsible for set styling and photo shoot direction as well as color correcting final images.

Responsible for providing the print plant with camera ready artwork for brochures, manuals and posters by using traditional typesetting, paste-up and stripping methods. Illustrated and produced slide & story board materials utilized in presentations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon, regarding Desert Storm planning and implementation. Freelanced by creating caricatures for retirement gifts and painted numerous murals throughout the military community.
