Barbosa's Objective: Improve engineering efficiency and top line revenue growth by defining high performing digital workstreams connecting Engineering and Manufacturing. Using a concept of Control Towers, Barbosa investigates the motion of work between Engineering and Manufacturing to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement. Things such as span of control conflicts, discontinuities, manual touch, gaps, redundancy and rework loops, are commonly found. Drawing from Barbosa’s experience and peer company best-practices, Barbosa leads a Discovery process to identify the most significant issues which then get categorized into four buckets: Organization, Tools/Systems, Data, and Processes. Pragmatic steps to make improvements are summarized in a 4 box matrix which compares ROI against Work Effort. Tools/Systems such as CAD, CAE, PDM, PLM, MDM and ERP are usually in scope when evaluating the motion of work.

I helped industrial companies evaluate the business value of software tools and systems in use for new product development. Tech-Clarity believes that companies must consider the value of technology in context with how the whole organization works. This means it's essential to consider current processes and people (the organization) before choosing a new technology. As VP of Digital Innovation Research, I enjoy helping industrial companies create more innovative products using technology.
