Started working as a Graduate Design Engineer writing embedded C code for their telecoms voice switch (fastSSP) which runs on proprietary hardware and has limited resources, so requires careful use of resource and processing.Worked on a server based SIP product on Red Hat. This development took advantage of virtualisation and was developed using standard IDEs in Linux with a view to multithreading for performance and stability.I have also gained the following experience:• Programming in C, JavaScript, SQL, Assembler, proprietary NODAL and SCP Maps as well as using batch file/shell scripting.• Debugging code using GDB, Visual Studio and through stack traces on both Windows and Linux environments.• Extensive knowledge of SIP VoIP protocol and the practicalities of implementing it.• Used SIPp, Asterisk, SPECTRA 2SE and Wireshark to test and debug SIP products.• Attended SIPit20 SIP VoIP testing and interworking conference in Antwerp to test Telsis' fastSSP PSTN-VoIP gateway switch and worked on `next-day' bug fixes for SIPit 21 (China).• Designed, architected and coded a new SIP Transaction layer and a new external call control layer for a SIP based NGN product. Developed the SDP (protocol within SIP) processing module, and fixed some bugs found at SIPit 20, on the fastSSP switch, written in C. Added the capability for the fastSSP to accept fragmented UDP datagrams and re-INVITEs.• Knowledge of SS7 and testing using SPECTRA and K1197.
