This is a continuation of my work on the Medicaid Information Service Center of New York (MISCNY) project that I previously performed as an EMC employee. I lead all elements of the SAN design, continuing to implementation and operation. I am responsible for the EMC replication technologies and the disaster recovery for those servers and storage. I have taken on additional responsibilities in IT security by collaborating with the security team and leading the review and rewrite of the MISCNY security policies.

I lead the storage and disaster recovery components of the New York State Medicaid data warehouse project and related state IT initiatives. This includes design and implementation of software to support SRDF and Timefinder replication of critical data. Perform all functions needed to support the SAN environment including Cisco MDS9513, VMAX 40K, VNX, and Xtremio. Regular consultation with the customer chief technical architect regarding infrastructure issues and new initiatives.

Support for SAN, business continuance, and other products. Work with UNIX and Windows systems. Clariion and Symmetrix storage subsystems. Cisco, Brocade, and McData switches. Programming in Perl and other languages. Data migration both host and array based.Key responsibilities include the implementation of solutions of Symmetrix, CLARiiON and related products on UNIX and Windows platforms. Business Continuation architecture, design, and implementation using Replication Manager, and scripting including custom programming for TimeFinder and SRDF integrations. SAN implementation and migration in a variety of environments.Worked closely with teams of customers, EMC project managers, solutions architects, and others to ensure quality projects.Key project activities have included the ongoing development of “bcvmgr” a TimeFinder and SRDF replication program which integrates TimeFinder, Oracle, and a volume management on a variety of different UNIX platforms. This has been deployed at various customers in the northeast region.Support of the CMA / New York State Department of Health Medicaid data warehouse project including onsite resident work to enhance the “bcvmgr” tool for the Oracle RAC environment.Technical lead assignment at Pfizer to move forward a stalled Symmetrix migration project and to improve the quality of activities performed.Multiyear ongoing support to Momentive Performance Materials for various EMC projects.Design and implementation of many business continuance projects using EMC standard tools such as Replication Manager as well as custom work using various scripts.Implementation and design of many new SAN environments utilizing Symmetrix and CLARiiON storage arrays supporting a variety of operating systems and server hardware.Migrated various customers from existing SAN and storage environments to new technologies.

Provide general consulting for shell/C programming support, security, system/network administration and configuration, and hardware/software installation for various UNIX customers especially DG/UX.Designed and implemented high availability scripts for an ESPN mission critical application. This was on a DG/UX clustered system that runs Oracle Parallel Server.Performance tuning of systems and applications especially DG/UX and Progress database environments.Deliver training for the Data General Corp. in UNIX software including basic UNIX, sh and ksh advanced programming, basic and advanced system administration, and TCP/IP. Deliver classes and maintain the courseware for performance tuning, clustered systems and B2 trusted systems.Deliver training for Global Knowledge Network in Perl, UNIX Administration and UNIX security.Deliver training for IBM Corp. in C programming and advanced C data structures.Lead systems engineer for one week of an eight-week federal government live test demonstration. Support was provided in the area of UNIX and C2 security for Computer Sciences Corp. on a network of over 70 DG UNIX computers. Responsible for responding to the RFP and coordinating, implementing, testing, and delivering security demonstrations for the government reviewers.Provide support to PRC Corp. in preparation for a US government bid. Support was in the area of remote terminal emulation to test HP UNIX computers. Each demonstration required extensive setup time to prepare a system under test for a repeatable 1-hour test. Created scripts and programs to streamline the setup procedures reducing them from up to three hours to less than 30 minutes.

Support of UNIX customers including software installations and upgrades, administration assistance, configuration, and customization. Laid off when DG reduced the work force by one third.

Windsor Locks, Ct

Design and coding of an IBM to SUN communications server. Data was routed from an IBM channel through a gateway SUN to client SUNs. This project was written in C and used SUN channel adapter software, shared memory, semaphores, a custom pseudo device driver, and IBM 3270 protocols.

Syracuse, New York Area

Responsibilities were field software engineering for short term development projects, UNIX systems administration, and technical sales support.Propose, design, and implement a data communications plan for the Upstate NY branch. This provided office automation for two offices, improving efficiency and streamlining operations.Provide education, training and configuration support on hardware products and UNIX software to salespeople, other employees, and customers.

Designed and coded utilities for a computer aided design package. Provided UNIX related support and training to other staff members. Responsible for efficient operation and maintenance of an HP9000 computer system. Developed backup procedures and programs. Ported UNIX utilities to the computer.
