As a Senior Business Development Manager at Jisc, I help drive the global partner and direct sales efforts for OpenAthens, an identity and access management solution. Working primarily in North America and EMEA territories, I focus on expanding our customer base in the medical, academic, pharmaceutical, and corporate sectors. In addition to driving new business growth, I play a key role in the technical setup of new sites and collaborate closely with the software development team to enhance product offerings based on customer feedback. My role also involves representing Jisc at trade shows and industry events, where I showcase OpenAthens and engaged with potential partners and clients.

Alongside this I work with our software development team to help deliver product upgrades and new features in-line with customer requirements.OpenAthens is used within library and research departments to simplify access to online subscription-based content by providing users with a single username and password (single sign-on). Provided as a hosted solution (SAAS)I regularly attend trade shows and work as part of a team exhibiting & presenting at various worldwide industry events.

Roles as first mate:Explain the race plan, train crew members in their role, assist captain in making sure the crew are kept safe throughout the race and the correct racing decisions are made to win. Keep the captain updated in any shifts in wind and where the other boats are. (up to 5 races a day with different crew each time)Marketing:Help with design of flyers, use of social media and presentations. I would be needed to visit hotel resorts and give a speech about the experience to the guests. I would then answer any questions and help customers sign up to the experience.

Over the years i worked in all departments of the hotel, kitchen, housekeeping, restaurant, front of house, leisure complex and the main bar. All this experience allowed me to develop a wide range of skills. All the roles were varied but a key factor to all was customer service.I spent most my last years working on the bar and front of house. I became assistant manager helping with staff rota, stock check, ordering and recruitment.
