Afghanistan

Serving as engineering subject matter expert for the United States and civil military partners’ development and governance capabilities within Afghanistan. Partnered with Special Operations Forces to bring projects of all sizes to districts in western Afghanistan. Mentored and partnered with local governor to further develop the credibility of the Afghanistan government. Connected resources to the most austere locations while working with USAID, USDA and NGO’s to integrate implementation of various programs helping to improve the residents’ quality of life.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

Studied Dari at DLS in Washington, D.C. as part of the AFPAK HANDS program. 16 month deployment to Afghanistan started in April 2011.

Groton, Ct (Subase)

Served as Director of Facilities and Engineering Division. Managed and directed fifty contract administration personnel and engineers on the construction, operations, and maintenance activities at various project sites. Planned and directed the installation, testing, operation, maintenance and repair of buildings, utilities and equipment. Inspected project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety standards. Analyzed survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects. Reviewed studies of environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess the potential impact of projects. Provided input on Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Low Impact Development (LID) design considerations to promote environmentally friendly construction.

Port Hueneme, Ca / Iraq

Operations Director for 500 military personnel in the daily operations at two independent forward operating bases. Planned, coordinated and supervised the completion of over 100 projects on-time and under budget throughout Iraq and Kuwait.

Keflavik, Iceland

Responsible for regional environmental coordination, hazardous substance emergency planning and spill response for all U.S. military activities in Iceland. Technical advisor on international environmental issues. Contributed directly to the reduction of hazardous substance spills installation-wide by developing and implementing training designed around an individual’s workspace and habits that could result in a spill.
