- Served as the technical expert of ammunition, explosives, and weapon safety requirements;- Investigated accidents and incidents related to ammunition, explosives, and weapons;- Maintained licenses for explosives operations and ammunition storage for all ATC ammunition facilities;- Audited and developed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Hazard Analyses (HA);- Assisted project managers implement explosives safety principles into facility designs and project requirements; and- Provided liaison between ATC and garrison commands.

While at ERG, I supported U.S. DoD and EPA clients by:- Preparing and submitting site plans including explosives safety certifications;- Developing GIS-based Explosives Safety Quantity Distance (ESQD) maps;- Provided explosives safety consultation for the storage, handling, and manufacturing of various ordnance and explosives; and- Provided National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance consultation through the use of a comprehensive work approval process, and through the development of environmental assessments.

Supported Navy and Marine Corps activities by:- Representing the U.S. Navy on the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) Risk-Based Explosives Safety Criteria Team (RBESCT) on matters pertaining to risk-based siting criteria and tools (e.g., Safety Assessment for Explosives Risk or SAFER)- Reviewing site plans including explosives safety submissions for munitions response projects- Serving as lead engineer on the Ammunition and Hazardous Materials (AMHAZ) Handling Review Board- Managing the development and implementation of the DoN web-based explosives safety site plan submission system (WebSAR)- Authoring and presenting the paper, “Improving the Management of Explosives Safety Data Using Electronic Tools” at the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Seminar (2008) and the Department of the Navy Explosives Safety Conference (2008)
