As part of my studies I have attended meetings in places from Chicago to Switzerland, helped at internal and external outreach events, given technical talks on my research, presented posters to a wide audience, and also worked as a team leader on mission critical monitoring software at CERN.As part of my research I use C++ and Python (Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Numba, Keras, Scikit-learn, Scipy) to help analyse big data collected from our prototype experiment at CERN. My work has involved aspects of machine learning (also attended a summer school on the topic), as well as creating novel algorithms to improve analyses. I demonstrated the undergraduate practical labs for two years while a PhD student.This would involve helping students solve technical problems during the lab sessions, as well as marking and providing feedback on their work recorded in their lab books.

During my PhD I have helped advise two undergraduate masters students on the topic of machine learning in particle physics applications. This would involve holding weekly meetings with them to discuss their progress, and helping them to debug their code.

I did my masters research on the improvement of high speed data collection algorithms used by the CMS experiment at CERN. I used C++ and CERN's custom analysis framework to analyse big data, and see where improvements in the data collection algorithms could be made.

During this internship I was using specialised software developed at the university that simulated models of dark matter. This required a good understanding of the various dark matter models in relevant literature.In conjunction with the specialised software, I was introduced to C++ through the use of CERN's data analysis framework. This was used to analyse and visualise the simulations produced through the specialised software

Provided guided tours of the university campus and in particular the Physics & Astronomy building. Required excellent interpersonal skills, strong knowledge of the campus, courses provided, university as a whole and the local area.
