Develop firmware for military radios.

Translate computer vision algorithms from Python to C++ using OpenCV on a Xilinx Zynq SoC. Support demos and interface with camera modules on the NVIDIA Jetson platform. Support motor control applications on a TI C2000. Implement vehicle tracking RADAR algorithms on a TI mmWave IWR6843.

Implemented a 16 kbps MELP vocoder with enhanced FEC and evaluated its voice quality using PESQ. Performed statistical analysis on the acquisition performance of the FEC using a custom tool developed in C#. Analyzed the thread priorities of 188+ threads for a new waveform being ported to our Falcon III radio and compressed the priority range down to 4 priorities. Worked on tightening the accuracy of the receive signal strength reported by our automatic gain control component. Ported GPP and DSP code from legacy products to the export family of products including TDMA, frequency hopping and SATCOM waveforms. Helped bring up the operating environment (OE) and VULOS waveform for the next generation manpack.

My role typically deals with C++ code for general purpose processors (GPP) in an embedded linux-like system (i.e. QNX) with some digital signal processing (DSP) mixed in. My work has been focused on the Falcon III line of military radio products including our flagship manpack product. I started with the operating environment (OE) team fixing trouble reports (TRs), implementing the vehicular amplifier adapter (VAA) built-in test (BIT), adapting the low-level traffic path to handle new requirements, as well as supporting legacy (narrowband) waveforms. I have since worked for the applications team on networking waveforms, hopping waveforms, controller-based waveforms and other special purpose applications for both satellite (SATCOM) and line-of-sight (LOS) communications. I wrapped up this position by implementing two types of forward error correction (BCH and Hamming) and starting work on a new vocoder.
