Board Director of Banner Mitre 10 - South Australian based Hardware and Building supplies business.

With operational responsibility for 7 stores, I partnered with the executive team to develop strategic business plans focusing on b2b and b2c growth options, capital improvement programs and driving standards of excellence across operations and service delivery. I prioritised the development of strong relationships with store managers to coach and mentor them to achieve business plans, P&L targets and KPIs. I also developed an in-house training program to deliver continuous learning and enhance the skill set and capability of managers and their teams. As Executive Director from 2007 to 2017, I also played a key role in broader business planning and governance. • Drove a 40% increase in profit over two years by developing leadership capability, providing clear focus for managers and promoting standards of excellence;• Reduced labour costs, without negatively impacting the customer experience;• Identified new areas of opportunity including negotiation of a franchise agreement with Beaumont Tiles;• Developed a strong working culture based on family values with professional service, resulting in enhanced retention rates.

Stepping up to this role, I developed a broader involvement in business strategy, assuming greater responsibility in the structure of the business and communications with the Board. I supported several key projects including the acquisition of a retail hardware store and the design and delivery of a high end Home Selection centre, a first for the business. I also took a leading role in creating the joint venture agreement with Mitre 10, with the Banner business retaining control, resulting in re-structuring, the leadership of a key CAPEX program to re-brand 10 stores and developing internal and external communications strategies to support the change process.• Enhanced customer experience through focused program of store improvements, leading store design, driving efficiency in operations and maintaining clear branding;• Increased loyalty club membership by 10% YOY;• Renegotiated supplier agreements following the Mitre 10 joint venture, leveraging group buying power.

Managing the operations and performance for seven stores, I re-launched the loyalty program to widen the customer base and boost repeat sales, refocused the offer for trade customers to drive b2b sales and developed the company wide marketing strategy from new point of sale collateral to running events and incentive programs. I also renegotiated terms with suppliers which generated considerable extra income for the business.Prior to 2008, I worked with the business in a number of roles spanning Business Systems (IT), Pricing, Marketing and Store Management. • Tripled membership of the loyalty program through the development of a highly successful outreach plan;• Created an in-house advertising agency, Creative Effort, creating a new revenue stream for the business;• As Executive Director, negotiated an Enterprise Agreement for 230 staff to ensure fair treatment of staff and perpetuation of key family values.
