About James Williams

Affordable housing is a significant factor in the success of every city nationwide. With the country on the cusp of a large-scale housing crisis, affordable housing has become one of the most prominent challenges local governments faces. As someone who grew up in a low-income community, my work with housing authorities is deeply rooted in a dedication to efficiently and effectively providing affordable, safe, and clean housing to those who need it.Throughout my career, I've worked in nearly every facet of public housing, from property administration to CEO, and I've gained working experience with 7 housing authorities across the country. I've overhauled the operations and analyzed the finances of trouble housing authorities under receivership to spearhead their strategic revitalization. I've led numerous initiatives to increase occupancy rates, drive redevelopment, and improve affordable housing programs during that time.While in these roles, I managed large operational and capital budgets and have led multidisciplinary teams of up to 300 staff members and contractor personnel. I've also served as a trusted advisor to leaders and executives to develop financial and strategic plans that drive the achievement of organizational objectives, execution of major expansion initiatives, and address diverse challenges in the affordable housing market. When I'm not working, I love teaching children who grew up in similar environments to me.
