Completed placement at one of Spain’s leading biological research centres. Working as part of the Pedro Jordano Lab, I provided research support on projects exploring animal-plant interactions within Doñana National Park. Focus areas included:- Using camera traps to analyse frugivore networks- The use of acoustic devices to monitor migratory bird phenology- Dietary analysis of frugivorous birds- Phenological monitoring of plants

- Surveyed for urban nesting herring and lesser black-backed gulls in this DEFRA-funded project contracted to consultancy BL Ecology.- Completed ground-based transects of 1km grid squares throughout Nottinghamshire, recording presence or absence of occupied nests, occupied territories and individual gulls.- Survey data will be used to inform licensing decisions by Natural England.

Working for the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, I produced a wide range of online and offline written content to help the Trust achieve its charitable aims. I developed a wide range of skills in this role including:- Excellent written and verbal communication, allowing me to convey scientific and sometimes complex information in an engaging and accessible manner to a variety of audiences, ranging from government to the general public.- Strong research skills, allowing me to understand and communicate a wide range of conservation issues.- A good understanding of the practicalities of on-the-ground conservation and relevant legislation.- Excellent IT skills and proficiency with numerous software packages.- Working collaboratively with different teams across the charity.- Experience meeting the varying requirements of stakeholders both internal and external.- Fact-checking wider Woodland Trust content on wildlife to ensure scientific accuracy.
