My nonprofit work began in 1997 with a project to build a landmine education center for children in central Vietnam. I then went on to co-manage a number of unexploded ordnance clearance projects in Vietnam before co-founding Clear Path International (CPI) in September of 2000. CPI, initially an ordnance clearance organization, later focused its efforts on serving landmine and bomb accident survivors, their families, and their communities.I was instrumental in building the CPI brand, securing funding, and managing both the governmental and nongovernmental relationships necessary to launch the organization’s initial programs in Vietnam and growth into Cambodia, Laos, along the Thai-Burma border, and in Afghanistan with funding from the U.S. Department of State. My work with CPl—along with that of my cofounders—has been recognized on the floors of both the U.S. Senate and the Vermont House of Representatives.I worked for six years at The Orvis Company directing public relations and philanthropic initiatives. In this position, I managed millions of dollars in funding for conservation and animal welfare efforts around the world by working in partnership with organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and many others.I conceived and launched the Orvis Cover Dog Contest, which has raised more than $2,000,000 to prevent and cure cancer in dogs.In support of this effort, I wrote a commercial featuring Emmy award–winning actress Betty White. The campaign won the gold medal at the 2015 North American Cause Marketing Forum Halo Awards in Chicago. In addition to my work with Betty White, I have also worked with Jonathan Goldsmith, Dos Equis' original Most Interesting Man in the World, on canine cancer efforts as well as landmine awareness campaignsI am now proudly serving as President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Vermont, a position I accepted in June of 2015.
