High School Art Teacher
CurrentI am a dedicated high school art teacher with an extensive background in various artistic mediums. With years of real-world experience in an art career that has embraced several fields, I strive to bring a wealth of knowledge and creativity to my teaching. One example is a recent foray into Augmented Reality, where students added an AR layer to portraits displayed in the hall outside the classroom. A huge success. As a practicing artist, I specialize in watercolor, acrylic, and gouache painting techniques. My artwork showcases color, composition, and attention to detail, reflecting my deep appreciation for the beauty found in the natural world around me. From vibrant landscapes featuring accurate wildlife imagery to technical illustration, my paintings invite viewers to embark on a visual journey filled with imagination. In the classroom, I am known for building a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel encouraged to take risks, experiment with different mediums, and express themselves freely. I believe in the power of art to promote self-discovery, critical thinking, and personal growth. By sharing my expertise and passion, I strive to empower my students to develop not only their technical skills but also their confidence and artistic voices.Throughout my career, I have sought opportunities to expand my knowledge and stay current with the latest trends and techniques in the art world. I attend workshops, conferences, and online forums to further refine my skills and bring fresh ideas back to my classroom. This commitment to lifelong learning is evident in the dynamic and innovative lessons that I create for my students. In one such case, students dodged stalactites and crawled into a mock-up of Lascaux Cave, built and finished to the last detail right in the middle of my classroom, all for simulating the experience of making cave art. It's all for the student, friends. I provide something that they will never forget.
