As VP of Finance operations at Financial Engines, I led a team of roughly 10 analysts working through traditional FP&A and reporting functions, operational data analytics, and continued improvement and maintenance of financial reporting systemsIn late 2015 and early 2016, I led the FP&A team of The Mutual Fund Store through the $560M acquisition by Financial Engines, then took over the financial planning operations of the combined company. Throughout 2016 and 2017, my team successfully created and implemented new SOX compliant systems and controls surrounding revenue and operational data, and created multiple new reporting systems to drive deeper understanding of the financials and KPIs. This helped to drive revenue from $432M in 2016 to more than $480M in 2018. Throughout 2018, my team and I worked intensely on the due diligence and sale of Financial Engines to Hellman and Friedman, and the subsequent merger and integration with Edelman Financial Services. This included building out the data room, and extensive travel and diligence meetings with several PE firms during the sale process, as well as building out the combined debt case documentation to secure roughly $1.9B of debt to finance the transaction.

Led a team of software engineers with 2 key goals: 1) Develop and maintain integration frameworks that map data from operational platforms into our financial and reporting systems. These systems support our accounting, invoicing, external and internal reporting, and financial analysis processes. 2) Improve and maintain secure web portals for external publishers. This web portal included multiple dashboard and analytic tools , as well as payment calculations and statements for the publishers.Prior to this position, I was the FP&A manager for roughly 1 year. In this role, I performed standard FP&A budget/forecast/variance analysis, as well as developed and implemented a daily reporting process that quickly gathers daily revenue and gross profit information from 5 channels and roughly 20 products, and created a full year Net Income projections on a daily basis using prior day sales and gross margins and updated trending.

Freightquote is a third party logistics company with a large presence in both the LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) and full truckload space. In this individual contributor role I was part of a team of analysts responsible for overall business analysis. Key accomplishments: Designed a revised staffing structure pilot for our truckload coverage team to better integrate our support staff with sales teams to support more focused customer support when covering truckload shipments. Truckload coverage in the pilot was up 12%.Developed and implemented multiple pricing strategies to maximize margins and overall profitability of our carriers and specific groups of customers. Created carrier level scorecards for the LTL carriers, which were used in pricing negotiations to help them understand where pricing could help them win more freight. Resulted in much better pricing from several vendors in key lanes.Worked with another analyst to design and track a pricing system which rounded up pricing on select shipments where customers were analyzed to not be price sensitive. Generated nearly $1M of additional revenue and Gross Margin in the first year.

Sprint's roaming team was a major cost center for company at a time when roaming was included in nearly every cell phone plan. Cost reductions were the key focus.In this role, I led a team of 5 professionals responsible for settlement of all inbound and outbound roaming expenses and revenues, approved payment for all roaming expenses ($900M per year) and owned building, maintaining, and tracking the roaming cost reduction programs including:1) Disconnecting habitual heavy roaming subscribers, driving $151M in annual savings.2) Targeted tower build outs in high roaming areas, resulting in over $110M in annual savings.3) Implemented data roaming suspensions, saving $8M in the first 4 months, $25M+ in 2011.4) Negotiated with clearinghouse vendor, saving $5M in 6 months. Annual savings of $22M+. 5) Recreated forecast models to account for handset mix and customer address for better accuracy.6) Upgraded customer profitability tool (MAP) with new data source to assign actual cost and vendor to roaming usage.

Analyzed the impact of changes in national strategic pricing in relation to overall company value, including detailed analysis on the launch of the "Simply Everything" plan.Audited profitability leaks including heavy roamers, heavy callers to care, and codes that were being misapplied by care. Created action plans to solve these leaks, including correcting the care calls issue with a savings of $3M per year.

Managed a team of 2 responsible for the maintenance and updates of all systems and pricing tools used by special pricing. Tools managed included all wireline/wireless pricing models used by over 90 analysts to determine pricing for large business customers. Proactively worked with sales teams, partners, and end customers to fully understand applications and needs, leading to the creation of over $29.3 Million in total contracted revenue in less than 18 months while working directly with customers and sales teams.Utilized effective negotiation and communication skills while working with sales teams to ensure that products are being sold at the highest possible prices and margins. Solved for acceptable ROIC and EVA levels while offering competitive pricing.

Audited and reconciled the billing of over $4.5 million per month worth of facility access charges. By following disputes through to resolution, received and applied over $5.1 million of bottom line solicited credit from our vendors.
