I was born in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1983. I attended Michaelhouse in the Natal Midlands and am currently situated in Sandton, South Africa. I have been into IT for as long as I can remember and have gained extensive experience in this field over the last 15 years of professional work. I am into all things digital and especially interested in mobile technologies and the growth spurt this has experienced, especially in the last five years. I have learnt a lot in all the places I have worked and feel that my experience is best put to use in practical situations that can make full use of my excellent trouble-shooting skills and logical thinking. I am especially enthusiastic about Apple products, but have extensive experience with Windows servers and past experience with Linux servers. My interests include all things cars and bikes, travel, as well as music and movies. I love technology and putting it into places that haven't been able experience the same things I have. I have strong feelings towards doing things for under privileged people when I can and would like to become more involved in outreach programs.

I am responsible for day to day operations of the IT Infrastructure. I have gained experience with Hyper-V, Mac OS X, Windows Server 2012 R2 and Exchange 2013. We run a Fortinet 800c as our internet connectivity solution. I have completed the CompTIA Network N10-006 certification and I am currently working towards my MCSE.I am a pivotal member of the team here and have been involved with the rollout of iPads within the school. We have used Profile Manager and Apple Configuratorv2 to accomplish this.We have around 400 PCs on the network, including laptops and desktops. I have used Windows Deployment Services to deploy desktops and servers. These have been updated through Windows Server Update Services. We use ESET Endpoint Antivirus as our virus protection and a Fortinet 800c network appliance, with wireless.I have gained extensive experience working on Hyper-V and been exposed to minimal clustering services, with centralised EMC storage. Further experience and training is still to be gained, but I am an avid learner and pick up things rapidly. I am logically minded and have gained invaluable troubleshooting skills in my general day to day operations at the school and all previous positions I have occupied. -
Knowledge AnalystWds Global Jul 2009 - Dec 2009Durban Area, South AfricaMy role at WDS Global was quite diverse. My responsibilities ranged from providing technical assistance on user’s PCs as well as on various makes and models of mobile handsets to being the last stop in the quality control process for the content written by the team. This last stop meant that I was the last person to check quality of the content before being submitted to the client, Vodacom. Other tasks included extracting HTML pages into a Microsoft Access database, which is then hosted on an IIS site where I would perform my quality control. I worked closely with the content writers, publishers and quality analysts to ensure that they had everything they needed for their tasks and to ensure that the content that is delivered to the client is of the highest quality. During technical assistance, I would need to prove that a particular technical task can be performed on the said handset and if the technical writer was unable to do so, I would need to train the writer on what they need to do. -
System Administrator / Image Retoucher / Data Storage ManagerAfrica Media Online Nov 2008 - Jun 2009Pietermaritzburg Area, South AfricaAt Africa Media Online, I was responsible for the smooth running of their internal infrastructure, consisting of three Linux servers and Windows/Mac workstations. I was involved with the setting up of contributor’s websites on their MEMAT system. While doing this, I configured the photo galleries using virtualisation on the FreeBSD servers and ensured all the sites were correct according to the graphics created by a third party. I was exposed to FreeBSD systems, as well as re-installing an Ubuntu Linux Server in the USA on a VMWare server remotely.Day to day running included ensuring that all the Windows PCs and Mac OS X computers were able to efficiently access the SAMBA file server and that there was enough storage for the 1000’s of 200MB images that were processed on the production line. Managing this data was a mammoth task, involving continual restructuring of data and transferring data among extra hard drives, while waiting for the new storage server to go live. I built on my existing Unix and Linux skills and enjoyed the job immensely. I also worked as an Image Retoucher on the production line. This entailed editing RAW scanned images, to remove any blemishes etc from the images. -

I gained valuable experience in wireless technologies, using Mikrotik Routerboards running RouterOS and other products, for example, ZyXELL Zywalls and ADSL routers, as well as the Netgear & D-Link range of products. I played a major role in the setup of nationwide VPNs for four clients, some with 32 branches. Much more but this doesn't allow more characters
