Since before freshman year of college, i have been gaining contracting experience and have continued this at school. I have worked as a 1099 subcontractor for various property management and maintenance companies, as well as independent investors/landlords. I have brought on many additional workers, and dealt with the management of jobs as well as billing and payment. Work done ranged from turnover work, snow removal, yard clearings, painting, and more. Although i plan to move away from this sort of work in the long term, i feel that the experience of putting in long days of manual labor (19 was my longest) helps to build character and work ethic. I also now have an idea of how much basic repairs cost, including turnover and am used to managing the execution of many projects at once.
