As a patent prosecution attorney in the Medical & Mechanical Devices group, I prepared and prosecuted patent applications in several technical fields, with additional expertise in Design Patent work.My work involved extensive communication with inventors and in-house counsel, speaking on a familiar and informed level with engineers and scientists in order to maximize the depth and value of their patent applications. I worked to understand the business of my clients, giving counsel on the full range of intellectual property, balancing the dynamics of protection given by patent law both within and outside the U.S.I worked with a wide variety of clients, including start-ups, universities, small to mid-sized regional companies, and multinational corporations. This included substantive instruction and guidance for applications in foreign jurisdictions. My experience included USPTO programs and procedures including Track I applications, the Patent Prosecution Highway, First Action Interviews, and Third-Party Pre-Issuance Submissions. As an associate, I was responsible for management of the entire prosecution docket for the U.S. division of a multinational corporation, requiring daily direct communication with the client as well as site visits with inventors to develop applications. My work was primarily in the material science and medical device industries. This extensive patent prosecution included substantive O-U.S. filings and responses before foreign patent offices. My responsibilities further included supervision of colleagues and support for litigation as needed. I performed research for and drafting of both a Constitutional Law practice exam book and an academic article on the Compact Clause.

I conducted research involving the analysis of judicial voting trends along criteria more than the traditional liberal-conservative axis. I contributed additional work involving the "Cultural Cognition" project as relating to potential jury polling for degrees of criminal punishment.

I was a member of the core TIGRIS instrumentation group at Gen-Probe (then a mid-sized biotech company) that developed diagnostic tests to screen blood and urine for various diseases. Projects I worked on included:• Integration of the Procleix™ Ultrio (HIV, HCV, HBV) & WNV assay chemistries onto the automated TIGRIS platform.• Design of experiments for verification & validation testing of new hardware & software modules.• Support for the general development, clinical trials, technical reports and 510(k) FDA submissions for Ultrio / TIGRIS . • Training new members of all TIGRIS project groups.• Troubleshooting and supply chain management for all TIGRIS project groups.

I worked part-time during school in the manufacturing laboratory for production of siliated biochips used in proprietary mass spectroscopy devices.

I worked as a bank teller as summer employment during college.

I volunteered and obtained this summer internship during high school at a start-up biotech company. I conducted experiments in relation to testing of a hematological substitute for cryogenic applications, requiring microsurgery and cannulation of lab animals.
