After over 44 years of law practice serving ERISA regulated Taft-Hartley multi-employer trust funds, I wanted more time for me in a way that allowed me to stay active, using my skill set and universe of relationships to find strategic solutions for many issues of the trust funds.WhiteStar is a real estate investment manager. We do not invest in bonds or stocks. The reason is that pension trust funds usually have an actuarial assumption that requires a 7.5% rate of return, and a portfolios composed of only stocks and bonds are having difficulty attaining that rate of return. WhiteStar presents to trust funds an option to invest in the real estate asset class with a focus on making mezzanine loans to developers, which produce a rate of return ranging from 9-15% over a 3-5 year project development cycle.WhiteStar also is a Qualified Professional Asset Manager ("QPAM") to help trust funds comply with ERISA prohibited transaction requirements when a contemplated deal involves parties in interest.

While attending law school, worked part time at U.S Supreme Court in Marshall's Office doing errands for Justices, and lived with family as their house manager, yardman and cook in exchange for nice room, board and stipend.

Exponential growth in my vision, perceptions, understanding, life experience. Spent Junior Year at Vassar College as exchange student. Traveled solo to France, Spain, Morocco and England. Wrestling and Crew teams.

Parents wanted us to have best education they could afford. Left Maui at age 16. No boarding facilities at Punahou, so for 3 years, I found accommodations with 4 different families.

Just a great place to grow up in Paia and Pukalani. Attended Kaunoa School in Spreckelsville, which was the English standard school at the time.
