The privilege of leading my own business is a culmination of many experiences and the result of working with remarkable people in countless situations. I’ve been extraordinarily lucky, and I try to show my gratitude every day. My parents brought me to the 1967 New York World’s Fair. Riding the subway to Queens, and looking back at the skyline, I realized this is where Johnny Carson and Ed Sullivan and Marlo Thomas lived! Something also gave me a suspicion Paul Lynde might be nearby.When I moved to New York a decade later, I hoped to lead the sort of life I’d seen on TV. I landed my first PR job with the legendary publicist Eleanor Lambert. Though she was in her 80s by that time, Miss Lambert offered daily lessons in mixing business with pleasure. I went on to work at big agencies for global clients and when I finally opened my firm, it was the logical next step. That was 21 years ago, but I feel just as enthusiastic about my business today as I did then. My current roster includes Target, 3M, Banana Republic, Veuve Clicquot, Williams-Sonoma, Inc., Grand Hyatt and LinkedIn, among many others. Most of these companies have been my clients for more than 10 years and I consider them part of my family.My best friend, partner, and closest colleague is my husband Stephen Henderson. Stephen and I met 25 years ago, when working together at a PR firm. I’m the luckiest guy in the world to have Stephen in my corner. I am proud to serve on the board of Housing Works, the New York-based social service organization, and I’m active in organizations and causes in the areas of education, the environment and LGBTQ issues.
