I’ve spent my career helping organisations handle the threats and opportunities that Digital Transformation presents. Using innovation techniques such as Design Thinking and Lean Start-Up, I enable clients to change not only what they do but how they do it. I joined Accenture to take Innovation to scale for both our clients and Accenture.For many, innovation is not yet truly front and centre of their business. Huge sums have been invested in innovation ‘studios’ and then these studios fail to deliver services with clear value. It’s easy to see why innovation practices can viewed by business leaders as little more than a ‘fluffy’ nice-to-have. If organisational innovation is to live up to its promise, then it must be aligned with core business objectives. This is nothing short of an existential issue for business: innovation is essential to surviving disruption; but only if it has purpose. Link innovation with the core business goalsExisting investments in agile delivery and rapid innovation processes need not go to waste. Businesses can to apply these processes, culture and capabilities to their core business requirements. Partnerships are keyTo achieve an innovation architecture capable of delivering strategic change at scale, businesses need the right partnerships. Modern innovation architectures & eco-systems are so complex no single organisation can bring all the requisite capabilities together without help. Innovation isn’t an option anymoreThe world is in a state of perpetual flux. Innovation is the vital hope for businesses to weather this political, environmental and societal turbulence and find solutions to some of the world’s most important challenges. It will only work if it is rooted in core business objectives by reshaping innovation in the organisational culture to ensure it delivers meaningful business value.
