Worked closely with Chief Medical Officer, physician leaders, and staff of Department of Quality and Patient Safety on various projects: 1) Characteristics and Notifications/Follow-ups of Test Results Pending at Discharge • Analyzed characteristics of test results returning after discharge at Tufts Medical Center.• Assessed impact of recently implemented changes in test result notification system. • Reviewed literature on strategies to increase follow-up of abnormal test results returning after discharge. 2) Reducing Preventable 30-Day Readmission Rate at Tufts Medical Center: Building a Post-Acute Care Network• Identified patient and post-acute care facility characteristics associated with readmission.• Explored best practices in discharge, transitions, and post-acute care protocols.• Analyzed Tufts Medical Center data and publicly available Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services data and Massachusetts Department of Public Health Survey scores to determine quality indicators associated with readmission.• Produced a survey tool for evaluation and further partnership with post-acute care facilities.• Created a tiered preferred post-acute network for Tufts Medical Center to minimize preventable readmission. 3) Assessing Challenges and Vulnerabilities at Home and at Transitions of Care for Readmitted Patients • Interviewed readmitted patients to understand circumstances associated readmissions and identify opportunities for improvement.4) Evaluation and Validation of a Tool for Measuring Effective Teamwork• Researched various measurements and tools for assessing teamwork.• Observed inpatient rounds, handoffs, and care decision making processes to validate consistency and reliability of different teamwork measurements. • Provided feedback to team leaders based on assessments, and in the process learned about characteristics of good team and challenges of applying basic teamwork concepts.

The Betsy Lehman Center is a state agency with a legislative mandate to help the Commonwealth and providers improve patient safety, engage the public about patient safety, conduct research to support safety initiatives, and share evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety in Massachusetts. • Provided input in analysis of patient safety data, compilation of outcome measures, and design of patient-facing website about safety and quality measures.• Advocated for patient safety curriculum in undergraduate medical education and improvement in patient safety culture and practice among students and trainees.

• Advised, recommended, and led public health advocacy and programs for the Society • Helped craft and debate public health-related policy resolutions for the Society

• Founded the organization with the mission to equip and empower students with competency in improvement science, policy knowledge, and systems perspective to help achieve the Triple Aim.• Hosted lectures and discussions on health policy and care quality measurement and improvement. • Connected students to quality improvement projects at Tufts Medical Center.• Organized workshops for students to complete the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Open School courses in improvement capability, patient safety, leadership, population health, and health equity.

Mercy Family Health Center is a federally qualified community health center serving Chicago's underserved neighborhoods of Chinatown, Bronzeville, and Near South Side. • Analyzed chronic disease progress and health outcome and compiled the annual report to the federal government• Proposed an initiative to establish a patient communication center with expanded use of telemedicine to provide comprehensive and coordinated care, increase capacity for self-care, and to empower local communities and form partnerships, as part of coursework for Field Studies in Public Health

• Designed and perform experiments to comprehensively test the hypothesis that TFG-β activates Ras to up-regulate mir-21, which in turn silences an antitumor protein, maspin, leading to prostate cancer progression• Trained new undergraduate research assistants.

Dr. Srivastava's lab studies antigen presentation by MHC I and MHC II molecules, immune response to cancer, viral immunity, and autoimmunity.• Researched the role of heat shock proteins in antigen cross-presentation and the form of protein antigen that donor cells present to antigen presenting cells in eliciting an efficient T-cell response in cancer immunology.• Gained competency in various protein separation techniques and worked with mice and viral constructs
