I direct day-to-day operations of advising and marketing/outreach services for Pierce College at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. I partner with our team members to develop student success initiatives that cultivate an environment that is student-focused, learning-centered, and mutually supportive of college initiatives and the needs of the military community. I seek to develop teams that are collaborative, empowered, and innovative. I accomplish this through transparent communications, thorough reception and integration of new colleagues, and professional development that supports mastery of current role or position and preparation for potential next career move.I partner with our Armed Forces Continuing Educational Services (AFCES) counselors to support service members seeking a college education while serving for advancement in enlisted ranks and entry into military commissioning and allied healthcare programs. We also partner to support service members successful transition into civilian life by providing educational solutions that are directly connected to immediate employment upon completion of service obligation. I network within the military voluntary education community through attendance at conferences such as the Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) and Council of Military Educators of Washington State (CMEWS) to advocate for the persistence of higher education within the military mission. I participate on committees that support the strategic vision of the college. Current work includes redefining the student journey to increase engagement, persistence, and completion. I also serve on the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council. We work with college stakeholders at multiple levels to establish consistent policies, trainings, and business practices that may support a more culturally sensitive and respectful environment for both learning and work.

Responsible for providing educational guidance and assistance for students by planning schedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate education solutions for different types of students. Follow through and track the advancement of students. Provide case management to students who do not meet local educational requirements. Provide assistance for at-risk students. At JBLM, assist active duty students in registering for courses through the respective military education portals. Develop degree plans in accordance with guidelines of the military services. Assist students in transferring to reputable programs. Connect students with career services and counseling.
