Jim Lichtenberg is the founder of Lightspeed, LLC, a New York City based firm focused on innovation and digital strategy for a diverse client base of premiere companies and industry groups.His professional engagements include Lockheed Martin, Dell, 3M, McGraw-Hill, Xerox, John Wiley & Sons, the Book Manufacturers’ Institute, the American Library Association and The Port Authority of NY & NJ, among others. Jim is a recognized consultant, speaker, and journalist on how new technologies are transforming business models, products, and services in an increasingly competitive global environment. He is expert at managing multi-company, interdisciplinary senior executive teams in problem definition and problem solving. Currently, he serves as editor at large for a major publishing initiative on managing innovation in large organizations, which is being co-created by seven Fortune 100 companies. As facilitator, writer, strategy analyst and transformation guru, Jim regularly hosts webcasts on innovation, social media, digital strategy for the Conference Board and the Book Industry Study Group. Prior to founding Lightspeed in 1997, Jim served as vice president, Higher Education, for the Association of American Publishers, and as senior vice president at public relations powerhouse Hill and Knowlton for over a decade. In 1999, Jim worked with The Conference Board to create its first internet-focused council and subsequently served as program director for this, and since 2007, the Council on Innovation, where he significantly enhanced both member growth and engagement. A graduate of Harvard College, Jim earned an MA in Sociology from New School University. His articles on technology, innovation and culture have appeared in The New York Times, Chronicle of Higher Education, Publishers Weekly, and Publishing Research Quarterly.
