As White Lodging’s Interim CIO and the IT leader on the executive team, I ensured that IT was fully engaged in the business and supported organizational objectives by maximizing the effectiveness of the people, processes and technologies under my leadership. I directed the organization through sensitive compliance remediation issues resulting from a data breach; provided significant leadership and direction during the ERP selection process; managed technology and business relationships for both business partners and vendors; guided IT through the operational and capital budgeting process; and provided ongoing leadership and direction for a 20 member IT staff during the search for and transition to a new CIO.

As Millennium’s North American Lodging Interim CIO, I ensured that IT was fully engaged in the business and supported the organization’s goals by maximizing the effectiveness of the people, processes and technologies under my leadership.. While stabilizing a fluid IT situation, I developed and began the deployment of the re-alignment and relocation plan for the North American IT Group (completed by the newly incoming CIO). This entailed the evaluation of IT processes, technologies and team and ensuring that the right pieces were deployed in the right places and provided ongoing leadership and direction for the staff during the search for and transition to a new IT model and the introduction of a new CIO. Additionally, I oversaw the technology and business relationships for both business partners and vendors – including the introduction of the new support vendor; guided IT through the operational and capital budgeting process; initiated the revamping of outdated SOPs; began the RFP process for an organization wide upgrade of Wi-Fi; conducted and brought to closure the RFP for a new WAN which had been stalled for over 6 months; and brought to closure the long overdue agreement for the replacement of non-compliant and obsolete hardware throughout the organization.

Created a highly successful IT support organization from the ground up in 2006. Implemented strategic planning for the IT discipline. Created and implemented standards and processes for support and customer relationship management. Implemented new IT processes for on boarding new business into the company. Reduced costs of third party vendors for both products and support. Successfully mentored and promoted multiple individuals within the IT discipline. In 2011, revamped the entire IT organization to leverage higher order skills and outsourced basic IT functions. This allowed the department, while scaled down, to focus on creating change for the business.Key Accomplishments: Created an IT discipline and kept it relevant to the needs of the enterprise. Created an IT Advisory Board to integrate the information technology discipline with operations. Also introduced strategic planning to provide long term IT integration into the business. Developed standards for core business systems. Introduced and implemented compliance efforts and programs related to a variety business security needs –credit card security (PCI), HIPPA, PII, data access and systems monitoring.  Named to two technology advisory board positions with major franchise partners as well as appointed to multiple industry councils. Provided thought leadership on industry topics to vendors and at speaking engagements during industry functions.

Chosen overhaul an IT department with adequate staff, but no leadership or direction. Overhauled the technology infrastructure to include improvements in uptime and system reliability. Created specifications for network design and layout for both existing network infrastructure and new development projects. Developed standards and specifications for telecom and internet services. Increased leverage with key vendors providing better service and lower costs.Key Accomplishments: Delivered over $500,000 in top line revenue by updating pricing structure for telecom and internet services. Created a “seat at the table” for the information technology discipline. Boosted morale by improving communications and creating organizational mobility. Participated in SOX compliance efforts prior to the company going private. Managed multiple RFPs for various services.

Manager, Corporate Technology (2000-2001)Organized and provided administration for corporate based shared technology and the technology team. Developed job requirements and hired staff positions for DBAs, network engineers and other technology staff. Implemented business continuity environment for central reservations system. Designed and built the corporate data center.Key Accomplishments: Led the corporate technology team during implementation of Oracle financials. Provided technical direction and leadership moving the corporate office from Corpus Christi, TX to Dallas, TX. Completed the implementation of a wide area network between the corporate office and all remote facilities. Manager, Facility Technology (1996-2000)Led in the creation and implementation of a technology team designed to support over 40 remote facilities. Stared by being the primary support staff for all facilities to being the leader of a team of 7 field based technicians. Implemented a call center to add additional support to the field based technicians. Opened numerous locations as new businesses. Led Y2K efforts for the entire company. Key Accomplishments: Designed and implemented countless networks throughout the organization. Researched and implemented a variety of general and function/industry specific software applications. Planned, designed and implemented systems for newly constructed facilities.
