James Ko is a Bioinformatics Engineer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Colleagues describe him as "James is a valuable contributor to CoreFX repository. Over the last 2 years, he's made hundreds of code changes used by .NET Core applications around the world. After he joined the project in 2015, he quickly became the third most active non-Microsoft contributor to our project, which is a really great achievement.
His contributions varied from bug fixes, new tests, trough addition of new APIs, to significant perf improvements of core data structures (e.g. 2x perf improvement in common Linq scenarios). He also helped to drive consensus on a low-level HashCode API, moderating discussion between several architects and contributors.
Overall James has very solid coding and engineering skills. He can focus on delivering value for product and demonstrated growth in understanding bigger picture (incl. why not every improvement is worth the effort / maintenance cost). He is passionate about performance of frameworks and APIs. He has excellent communication skills.
Based on his contributions, we worked with James together to pick a larger project for him in Roslyn Analyzers, with closer mentorship from Microsoft engineer on Roslyn team."
