In-house lawyer, reporting directly to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, providing legal advice and services on a diverse range of issues to Melbourne IT and all business units across Australia, Asia, EMEA and the US, with a particular emphasis on contract, corporate and commercial law, intellectual property, internet law, policy, and competition and consumer law.- Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements with suppliers, resellers, partners and professional service providers- Drafting and negotiating contracts with large Australian and global corporate clients of the Digital Brand Services (DBS) division for the provision of corporate domain management and related online business solutions including brand protection, domain acquisition and new gTLD consulting services. Deals worth up to $100K, contributing to strong revenue growth- Drafting and negotiating new reseller agreements, working with the General Counsel, including master agreement, special terms and conditions, service descriptions, and separate interim letter of agreement, with a major DBS reseller client in Europe- Drafting terms and conditions for new SMB internet products and special offers, promotions and competitions- Drafting moderation guidelines for the group’s social media pages- Managing and protecting Melbourne IT's IP rights including successful trademark complaint- Reviewing marketing EDMs, collateral, web pages and advertising for compliance under Australian Consumer Law, Spam Act, Privacy Act, and auDA policy- Amending terms and conditions, drafting communications to resellers, and advising business units on implementation of changes to comply with new ICANN policy- Management and resolution of TIO complaints, tribunal claims and other disputes- Resolving policy issues and complaints including alleged copyright infringements, domain name ownership disputes, alleged breaches of ICANN & auDA policy, phishing & malware attacks

Member of small legal drafting team drafting and preparing 150+ applications to ICANN for new generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) on behalf of global corporate clients. The introduction of new gTLDs by ICANN is the most significant change to the Internet in 20 years and represented the largest commercial opportunity for the company in more than five years.- Drafting responses to legal questions/sections of applications for new gTLDs on behalf of Australian and global corporate clients, including some of the biggest global brands, professional organisations, sporting organisations, and government bodies within extremely tight timeframes - Drafting applications in accordance with requirements set out in Applicant Guidebook and ICANN policy. Each application set out the applicant’s IP rights in the new gTLD, including details of trademarks registered in different jurisdictions, the client’s existing domain name portfolio matching or containing its trademark and the strength and reputation of the brand corresponding to the gTLD- Drafting registration policies/agreements setting out the rules for eligible users to register domain names within the new gTLD and rights abuse prevention measures to protect the domain space- Ongoing management of each application to ensure it progressed and met relevant timeframes

Full-time role providing paralegal support across all practices – professional indemnity, financial services, general liability/property damage, public liability and product liability• Drafting letters to insureds and other parties, and letters of instruction to investigators / experts• Drafting court documents, including defences, briefs to counsel, affidavits, subpoenas, form of default judgment for debt and search for an appearance, notices of discovery• Extensive legal research on a wide range of areas, for example:- The legal division between common and private property in a multi-level apartment complex and the standing of an owners corporation to sue for latent property damage caused by defective construction under Owners Corporation Act, Domestic Building Contracts Act and Regulations- Duty of care owed by surveyor to third party owner of land to avoid pure economic loss- Legally accepted commercial property valuation methodologies and assessment of damages for loss suffered by secured lender on negligent property valuation• Appearance to seek leave to uplift documents produced by Victoria Police• Discovery/Electronic Discovery
