I'm excited to be the President of the Cambridge University Scottish Society ('ScotSoc') for 2023-24! In this role I will lead the committee's planning of regular events for the University's Scottish population, including ceilidhs, St Andrew's Day events, and the annual Burns Supper. I am also seeking to innovate in the role, including by creating new social media platforms, organising new events such as Gaelic language-learning sessions, and increasing ScotSoc's access efforts to encourage more Scots to apply to Cambridge.

I mentor with The Oxbridge Launchpad, a fantastic organisation aimed at better preparing state-school applicants to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. My role involves preparing mentees for self-directed learning through coaching on research, writing and interview skills, as well as guiding them through the Oxbridge application process

I greatly enjoyed putting my research and writing skills to use, writing weekly blog articles and researching Scottish arts policy reform with think-tank Common Weal. In this role I engaged collaboratively with both policy co-ordinators and academics, culminating in a 7000-word report incorporated into their latest publication, 'Sorted: A handbook for a better Scotland'.

Amidst Boris Johnson’s resignation and the unveiling of the SNP’s Independence strategy, I was lucky enough to intern with the PR and Public Affairs departments at Grayling. I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to do hands-on work for clients in a range of roles, and left with a new-found appreciation for the important role such organisations play for both public- and private-sector clients.

During my Co-Presidency of the Emmanuel College Music Society, I led the committee's effort to re-establish our busy schedule of weekly recitals post-COVID. However, we also understood the need to change our approach following the pandemic - we expanded our range of open-to-all musical ensembles, to give new musical and social opportunities to as many students as possible, and put particular emphasis on our external musical equipment hiring scheme - our primary revenue source.
