Hands on manager guiding an engineering staff of 15 solving the most challenging design and manufacturing issues including CAPA, Continuous Improvement, CI, post launch product requirement refinement and correcting strategy of active development projects. Recent product focus includes electro-mechanical cardiac catheters include RF ablation, diagnostic catheters, and force sensing that utilize fiber optics.

Lead the development and commercialization of a number of catheter products that included the coordination of multiple sites in different states with different quality systems. My work is known for attention to detail early in the development process which results in faster DV testing with predictable results and yields.

Involved with the development and commercialization of medical devices from concept to PQ including implanted access portals, catheters, access needles, antimicrobial coatings, and insulin delivery devices.Proven design, creativity, and team communication skills, brought to bear on some of the most difficult challenges from improving quality of 99.88% to 99.94%, developing innovative designs within crowded IP fields to developing manufacturing methods with partners. Identified and lead the development of an innovative sub-q insulin delivery device that became know as the Cleo 90. I guided the development through ideation, crowded IP, qualification, initial production and towards recognition as a Medical Device Excellence Award winner in 2006, the IDEA Silver award in 2006 and a Sparkaward in 2009.Organized and educated a project team in various antimicrobial solutions including, material selection, testing, and submission strategies. Identified and initiated post launch cost downs totaling $1.5 million annual savings.Supervised 2 engineers within the R&D group while performing tasks associated with the development and commercialization of vascular access catheters, portals and tray components. Also served as design authority for previously released products, complaint investigation and expert witness.

Transferred into Pilot Operations group bringing key manufacturing experience and technology into the R&D group to facilitate early implementation of manufacturability into the design process.

Performed manufacturing engineering functions for implanted portal and catheter operations including procedure development, continuation, marketing support, validation, and resolution of component issues, while leveraging my experience with high volume, high quality automated manufacturing methods.

Responsible for the concept, justification , specification, design, installation and future improvements to high speed automated production equipment used to manfacture personnal care products, assembly, case packing, filling, unscrambling and conveying.Supervised and trained 48 union mechanics while implementing cost savings in excess of $3 million/yr.
