Platoon instructor. The best time in my life. I was drafted for a short stint, just a summer job, after my mandatory service. Then it became something bigger. In July 1997 I was torn between choices – I had Medical, Politics, Philosophy (Eng & Lit) as choices along with the Military Academy, My friends told me: "Don't be stupid, become a doctor!". But I chose the only one I could not have returned to later – being a soldier and an officer. A good choice, because I could still take up all others, exempt the MD as surgeon, since cold weather and rugged training have destroyed the nimbleness of my fingers.

Insight: Stand at the door, open it to everyone, adult or child and treat everybody the same. Only then can you require the same behaviour, even if in party mode. "Good evening, Sir, welcome!", doesn't have an age limit, though if under 15 years, I used to say "Good evening, young Master, welcome!". #manners #service #customerfirst
