Leadership of the Delivery department within Product and later within a newly formed Technology office, this includes software engineering, testing and cloud platforms.My teams work very closely with Product Management and Architecture to deliver to various product roadmaps while aligning to the digital enterprise architecture.Providing leadership in an environment with increased blueprint of products and underlying technology services, with a mixture of stability/modernisation of existing legacy services as well as development of new fit for purpose services and products.Digital products include both stuff.co.nz and neighbourly.co.nz, making major strides towards a DevOps model with the cultural and technology move to individual agile teams being on-call for their own services. This brings the benefits of greater ownership and autonomy for individual teams as well as a reducing latency (dependencies) on other teams to restore service in an incident scenario.Most recently I played a leading role in the resourcing for the delivery of a major technology re-platform programme of work, this included the mixture of customisation of open source technologies and integration of PaaS and SaaS products. This was a very large scale initiative with numerous teams both in-house and vendor working across multiple timezones.

Leadership of the product technology function for Fairfax Media in New Zealand, this was a period of growth and establishment of capabilities for delivery and platforms.A key initial priority was the establishment of in-house software development capability. User Experience, Testing, Agile Coaching and Cloud Platforms capability was later added as the team grew, I was lucky enough to have some very talented technology and user experience individuals in my team.Key initiatives and priorities delivered, including a major content management system (CMS) migration, identity management platform and the transition to in-house teams of numerous key systems including the commercial technology platform. The number of agile teams scaled out to a network of teams working with defined individual missions.As the audience of stuff.co.nz grew so did the scale of our cloud infrastructure platform with some best in class implementation of content distribution networks (CDN) and caching strategies put in place to ensure we supported the needs of a 24 x 7 news platform for AotearoaMy teams had also been involved in complex trans-tasman group technology programmes of work requiring strong leadership to foster collaboration across multiple timezones. I worked on a regular basis with leadership colleagues in Australia to identify synergies that would benefit from shared services.
