About James Michael Mannion

Clinical Social Worker/Counselor practicing psychotherapy to help individuals, couples, LGBTQ, and multicultural individuals/groups overcome challenges to personal growth including anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, grief, self-harm, relationships, sexual and creative expression, and career issues. I earned a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW) from Aurora University, and then completed a Post-baccalaureate Addictions Counseling program to become certified as an addictions counselor (CADC). A life-long learner, I continue to study human development and psychology as I progress in my transition from previous experience as a professional business and IT engineer, towards earning an Independent Clinical license and becoming a really great counselor! To that end, I do enjoy to leverage techniques from various therapy and non-therapy modalities to help clients achieve their goals within an integrative framework that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Motivational Interviewing (MI), addictions counseling, compassionate inquiry, mindfulness practices, and traditional Native wisdom.
